Solihull Moors Y&J – Pick of the Weekend Blog – Sat 16th & Sun 17th September 2017

A great start to the season for our U16s ‘Nerf’ Junior-Premier League side continues, after crushing Sutton Coldfield Town U16s last week 0:6, they continued the fine form by also putting 6 past Birmingham City FC with yet another 6:0 victory.  A superb start with a fantastic set of players on board this season, coached by Pete Bailey & Riccardo Scimeca.

In the Girls section, our new U12s girls team chalked up their first victory of the season with a fantastic 0:6 away win to hosts Coton Green of Tamworth. This new freshly formed side, is looking promising already for the future, with Solihull Moors Ladies manager Sarah Westwood currently at the helm.

In the MJPL Saturday section, New coach Tom Coggan of the U14s TC side, made it 2 wins out of 2, beating MYD Lea Hall 2:0 at home after wining their opening fixture away to Coventry Sky Blues 1:4.

In the Sunday CWYFL Section, 2 Moors sides at U12s faced off against each other in their first game of the season!  Y&J Chairman Andy Skipp, & Vice Chairman Darren Wilby’s U12s team, ‘travelled’ to Anthony Eaton’s U12s team, where Andy & Darren’s team eventually ran out 1:6 winners of this tie. Other noticeable scorelines this weekend started with, Gaz Davies U13s team hosted Coleshill Town for their opening fixture & ran out comfortable 8:2 winners.  Nick Jamieson’s U14s team played hosts to Whittington Vipers, winning comfortably 8:2 also.  Carl Brigden’s U15s travelled to Sutton Twon Juniors & chalked up a 0:7 victory. The surprising scoreline of the day though fell with our Division 1 U15s team coached by Jamie Kirk, who ran out 10:0 winners against a much fancied Red Star AFC being their first season in the division, & given high praise of style of play.

Well done to all teams this weekend – Ant Hasker
