Solihull Moors Y&J Pick of the Weekend Sat 11th & Sun 12th Nov 2017

There was no Nerf Junior Premier League action this week for our high flying U16s team run by Pete Bailey & Riccardo Scimeca. Instead they travelled over to Tipton Youth to represent the club in the Birmingham County FA Minor Cup Round 2 after a bye in the first round. Moors gained safe passage to Round 3 with a thrilling 3:6 victory over the current MJPL side to keep their fantastic start to the season going.

In the MJPL this week, the teams managed 4 wins out of 7. Starting with Darren Wilby’s U12s team hosting Mickleover Sports. In a tight game, Moors managed to get that decisive goal to take all 3 points with a 1:0 victory. In the Sunday section, we had yet another Autumn Cup claimed by this time our U10s side coached by Lee Osborne! In their final game, they drew to Redditch Borough 3:3, but it was just enough to claim another trophy for the club, with 3 in the last 2 weeks achieved! Andy Skipp’s U12s side travelled to Oscott Rangers this week & kept themselves in contention for the title, winning comfortably 0:9 & remain in 2nd place behind top of the table Coleshill Town with a game in hand, who narrowly beat Anthony Eaton’s U12s team 1:2, keeping them in 3rd position. Solihull Moors Y&J Pick of the Weekend Sat 21st & Sun 22nd Jan 2017

This week saw a lack of games on Saturday, so all attention was drawn to the Sunday section this week.

Game of the day went to Ant Hasker’s U11s team playing in the Autumn Cup (Grey Group) versus joint top side West Hagley in a 14 goal thriller! A win for either side would see them surely crown champions. At half time, Moors were looking at Runners-up spot 1:5 down. 3 minutes in it was 2:5, but then followed another Hagley goal for 2:6. Looking down & out, Moors then made an incredible comeback in the space of 9 minutes that saw the 2:6 scoreline turn around to 7:6 in front, helped by a Kyron Creswick 4 minute hatrick, to add to his first goal. Just as it was looking as though Moors would claim another audacious 3 points, West Hagley scored in the final moments of the game to take a share of the spoils 7:7! Both teams have 1 fixture left against the tricky Boldmere Falcons, with West Hagley facing them first next week, Moors the week after – watch this space!

Elsewhere, Lee Osborne’s U10s side racked up 11 goals in their Autumn Cup fixture away versus Catshill Blues in a final 1:11 scoreline.
